Anne W. Burrell (born on 25th August 1949) is an American television chef and host. Burrell was also a former instructor of the Institute of Culinary Education. Burrell hosts Secrets of a Restaurant Chef on the Food Network and the co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell's Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant chef, with her trademark spiky blond locks and pumped up personality, provides easy techniques anyone can master. Chef Burrell is also a part of some of the top eateries located in New York, studied the food culture and culinary traditions of Italy and competed on Food Network's Iron Chef America. Burrell, who grew up in New York State's Upstate, discovered a love of cooking. After earning an English and Communication degree from Canisius College in Buffalo NY she was able to pursue her love of the restaurant business by enrolling in The Culinary Institute of America. The Culinary Institute of America was an amazing experience for me. I was unable to learn enough, didn't do enough couldn't work hard enough. After graduating, Burrell worked at La Bottega del 30 in Tuscany and La Taverna del Lupo (in Umbria) during her time at an Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. While in Italy the chef developed an appreciation for and knowledge of Italian cuisine. This had an enormous effect on the way she thinks about food. Burrell is a well-known ambassador for the Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation. She also was a part of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which assists children with obstacles. As a guest speaker and mentor, she travels around the U.S. to share her love for cooking and profession. Anne says she was incredibly fortunate in that she could be able to share her passion for cooking with others.
